A Midsummer Nights Dream

A Midsummer Night's Dream is a comedic play written by William Shakespeare, written around 1595-1596. The play revolves around the story of four young lovers: Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius, and Helena who find themselves entangled in a romantic quadrangle, with Hermia’s father insisting she marry Demetrius against her will. As they navigate their complicated emotions, they become lost in the mystical forest, where the fairy king Oberon and queen Titania are engaged in a bitter dispute.

With the mischievous Puck as their guide, the mortals become unwitting pawns in the fairies’ games. Lysander and Demetrius are manipulated by the love potion, causing them to fall deeply in love with Helena, leaving Hermia heartbroken. Meanwhile, the amateur actors, led by the lovable but hapless Bottom, rehearse a play within the play, adding to the comedic chaos. As the night wears on, the boundaries between reality and fantasy blur.

This production of A Midsummer Night's Dream will be set in 1960s Appalachia. There will be original music and dance inspired by the time period. The original music will be composed by the talented Skye Campbell and Bryce McGuire, who also composed the added music to last fall's production of The Crucible. With its lighthearted tone, witty dialogue, and enchanting blend of magic and mayhem, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a timeless delight that continues to captivate audiences with its exploration of love, relationships, and the power of imagination.  You won't want to miss it!
