In A Midsummer Night’s Dream, by William Shakespeare, the fairies in Queen Titania’s court were played by children, many of them the children of cast members. Mrs. Sandall directed and Jane Wilson was Music Director.

“To many...the story is not new. How Shakespeare could have taken three entirely disassociated groups of characters — fairies, noblemen and craftsmen — and woven them together in a well-knit plot of which love is the theme and the beauties of the woods, the background, has been a marvel at which many have marveled for years.

“Perhaps Shakespeare must have had in mind just such a spot as the Forest Theatre. . . .”  [newspaper review]

“While the problem of making ardent lovers from staid Mountaineers was not easily solved, nevertheless the director, Mrs. Robert Sandall, offered a show which well earned a place with the many successes of previous years.”
